Sophia Leon

Teacher Scholar Sophia Leon earned a liberal studies degree from SDSU in 2023 and expects to finish training for a bilingual, multi-subject teaching credential in 2024. “I want to teach older elementary school students,” she said, “then move up to high school and eventually teach multicultural education at a university.

Gabriel Morales Garrido

KEARNY HIGH/UCSD
STEM Scholar Gabriel Morales Garrido has been studying neurodiagnostic technology and human physiology at San Diego Mesa College ahead of his transfer to UCSD in the fall 2023. He also has been working in hospitals as he moves toward a career as a physician’s assistant. He expects to graduate in 2027.

STEM Scholar Stephanie Morales is making friends, completing internships and having fun in the Civil Engineering Club at SDSU, where she expects to graduate in 2024. Stephanie is a first-generation Mexican-American. Her family is proud of her accomplishments and we are, too!
