Celebrating Scholars
San Diego Education Fund scholars gathered for games, a buffet and conversation about their college journeys during a celebration Jan. 3 at Dave & Busters.
Gabriel is applying to medical school. Jacqueline is studying to become a nurse. Jesus is training to teach high school math.
As the microphone circulated from student to student, each of the brief speeches communicated an unspoken determination to succeed.

Angelina, a first-year student at UC San Diego and graduate of The Preuss School, dreams of teaching math. Her calculus teacher was a big inspiration, she said.
“The way he taught it and supported students who struggled in the class,” Angelina said.
