STEM scholar to pursue cosmetic chemistry

She graduated from Hoover High School in the top 5% of her class. She cares for younger siblings and works to support her family.

As an immigrant from Cambodia, Teng Panha Hout overcame self-doubt by immersing in numerous school clubs. She went on to receive acceptances to at least five universities

“Coming to America two years ago, I started as someone who was not aware of my own identity and lacked comfort in my own skin,” she said. “Through programs that helped me embrace my truest parts, I found the confidence to present myself as ‘the real me’ — a life lesson I will employ through skincare.”

As a future cosmetic chemist, Teng says she will help people build confidence in their own skin and elevate their natural beauty.
